Seit AHCI bei SATA Standard ist, ist auch hotplug Standard. Also seit
ungefähr ewig.
Überhaupt kein Problem. Passende Platteneinschübe gibt es seit vielen
Jahren auch im Consumerbereich für relativ kleines Geld.

Dir sind einfach bisher offenbar zu wenig Platten verstorben.
Größeres Backup wieder einzuspielen, kann schlicht ewig dauern.

Und ich benutzte Raid privat seit den 90ern ganz bewußt (früher halt
SCSI heute schlicht SATA). Mir geht es da u.a. auch um's Tempo.
Den Unterschied zwischen z.B. 700MB/s lesen/schreiben und Einzelplatten merkt
man mehr als deutlich.

Also redest Du hier von SSD Storage. Im Zusammenhang mit „privat“ also
datenmengenmäßig kompletter Kleinkram. Klar, dann kannst Du das
teilweise nicht nachvollziehen. Wenn ein Restore aus Backup bei Dir mal
Tage dauert, reden wir da vielleicht nochmal drüber.
