To call learning 'education' stems from the French and English aristocracy.


This is so, because the English have still a medieval class society, 
with aristocrats, citizens (middle class) and peasants (proletarians).

The aristocracy is based on the idea of inherited privileges and those 
include the right to let others work.

Since they did not have any intention to do something useful, they also 
do not want to call the things they do in school and collage 'learning'.

Instead the 'elite' is trying to maintain their privileges and 
distribute them to their offspring.

Since the kids are not really keen for learning something useful, the 
aristocracy invented a system, that keeps the  mind and thinking of 
their kids in the ways, which are useful for their class.

This process is called 'education' (in school and collage).
