Oh and to use Unix too, that goes without saying! No, by "real users" I didn't mean "real programmers". I meant "real users", people who actually use their computers for tasks more complicated than typing a letter or browsing a Web page. Real users need not be programmers at all, let alone 'real' programmers. Of course there was a certain amount of hyperbole mixed into that reply. After all, I consider myself to be a 'real user', and even /I/ use Windows (when no rational alternative presents itself). > Obviously Windows isn't a toy OS with toy users, as otherwise MS > wouldn't be a company with tens of billions of dollars revenue. It is certainly possible to use Windows to get real work done, if that's what you mean. > Meanwhile the OP probably has some Apple or Android OS in mind, and > cares nothing for neither Windows nor Linux! Android is based on the Linux kernel, and iOS is a grand-child of Unix (being based on OS X, which is based on Unix). -- Richard Heathfield Email: rjh at cpax dot org dot uk "Usenet is a strange place" - dmr 29 July 1999 Sig line 4 vacant - apply within
