You said your computer is 11 years old.  Have you ever changed the CMOS
battery?

If the battery has been changed, the article also said the CMOS could
be corrupt.  I think you can reset it by removing the battery, leaving
it out for about thirty seconds and replacing it.

How can I reset CMOS or BIOS settings?
