Most likely the 'UFOs' where invented by the Nazis in the 1930th.

(You may call their crews 'creatures' anyhow).

But the Nazis had also told the world a lot about their 'wonder-weapons' 
(ad nauseam).

But even if they invented a lot, the promised miracles didn't happen and 
Nazi-Germany was in fact bombed into total destruction.

Therefore, 'scientific hubris' isn't recommended and science should do, 
what science can do and should not announce progress, until that is 
already achieved.
