In the early/middle 90s I was working for a 3rd party service mob 
looking after IBM mainframe gear at one of the big banks. We used to 
repair boards to the component level for two reasons, new parts were 
very expensive (everything from IBM is) and some of the gear was so old 
that new parts weren't even available.
