That's typically what causes people I know to finally upgrade their machines after holding out for years. I sold my two G5 towers back in 2008 on eBay for $1200 and $990. That offset the cost of my 2008 Mac Pro which is still a speedy beast as my daily workstation. There are certain things I can't do with this machine already because of the age of the hardware - like certain Continuity features and so on. I can live with that for now though.
