You're right. If I could find "the iCal file" I could hope to open it
over my network to solve my problem. I did look at ~/Library/Application
Support/iCal for "the iCal file" and there was nothing in that folder
that even updated when I made a change to my calender. Now I know where
the data are stored. Thanks, even though that knowledge doesn't help me.

Yep, that's the decision. In my case the main problem is that nobody's
updating browsers for PPC Macs and web site developers aren't developing
for my antique browsers. Also, the machine is acting a little flaky and
I'm concerned that it might decide to give up the ghost at some
inopportune moment.

Nobody in this country got rich on his own. You built a factory--good.
But you moved your goods on roads we all paid for. You hired workers we
all paid to educate. So keep a big hunk of the money from your factory.
