I was just an analogy. Anyhow, I have to disagree, JR. Word files are rich with information beyond simple plain text. Thanks for your suggestion about Export/Import, but I was already aware of that. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my problem. If I'm downstairs and there's an exported file for me to look at, then it is possibly not up to date. If I go upstairs to export the calender, to get an up-to-date file, why bother? Since I'm there, I can just look at the "master" calendar on the computer where it's maintained. Regarding Export/Import, I tried that once and it didn't work. My old computer is PPC, my new one is Intel. The Intel iCal said it didn't recognize the format of the file exported from the PPC machine. I didn't investigate further. That's what you > get by default with the latest Apple operating systems. I agree that manual file copies for sharing are laborious and clunky. I don't know about 1990s. In any case, as I described above, they don't solve my problem. It's clear to my that my PPC G5 is near the end of its life. That saddens me. The PPC ISA is brilliant; I understand it well enough to be able to program it in assembly and I will hate to leave it. Intel produced generations of chips with clunky ISAs. I admit that I'm not up on them now; maybe the most recent Intel chips are decent. Charlie -- Nobody in this country got rich on his own. You built a factory--good. But you moved your goods on roads we all paid for. You hired workers we all paid to educate. So keep a big hunk of the money from your factory. But take a hunk and pay it forward.
