that describes imap, not an 'aol imap', and it's clearly written by
morons who haven't a clue.

if outlook, thunderbird and other email clients support imap, then so
can apple mail. they explain how to configure outlook and thunderbird
for imap, but for some reason, they let apple mail use its defaults,
which apparently chooses pop. it's not at all hard to not use the
default and configure it for imap.

no they definitely won't.

that has nothing to do with aol. that's how pop works. if you use imap,
that won't occur.

it's time to ditch pop.
