I did some work a while ago on porting FreeBSD's telnetd to GNO, but I
didn't get it finished. I think it's fundamentally possible, and I did
get as far as verifying that basic server functionality (accept a
connection and then send data back and forth) works on GNO with
MariGNOtti. It would just take some more work to get it finished up.
I may get back to it at some point, although likely not particularly
soon. (If someone else was interested in finishing it, I could
probably provide what I have.)

The old GS/TCP webpage also mentions telnetd as one of the programs
developed for it. I don't have a copy of that, and I don't know to
what extent it really worked, but if it did work and could be made
available that could also be an option. If it was using the GNO
sockets interface, it would likely work with Marinetti/MariGNOtti as
well as GS/TCP.

I agree that a telnet server for GNO would be something nice to have.
For one thing, it would be useful in development workflows. More
generally, I think it would be cool to see more people using GNO and
developing stuff for it. It's really a very capable environment that
shows what the GS can do, and by providing a bunch of Unix-like APIs
and functionality, it makes it feasible to port and write things that
otherwise might be prohibitively difficult to get working on the IIgs.
