When i got mine, about 12 or more years ago, Linux worked fine with it as did the iscan software that Epson supplied for use of the scanners with Linux. The 1660 Photo scanner was also very fast (about 2 sec to scan a page at 300dpi and even at 1600dpi it only took about 10 sec). It does only have a USB1.1 communication channel, so the main impediment seems to be the time it takes to transfer the file, and the internal memoryin the scanner, so the scanner has to pause sometimes on very fine scans for the transfer to catch up. > hadda use an old W98 box.
