The Golan Heights theoretically are Syria. Israel grabbed most of the area 
in '67 and slurped up the rest when Assad's government fell. Just 
temporarily, of course. The Zionists always wanted it but when the Brits 
and French drew up their arbitrary lines it wound up om the French side of 
the fence which became Syria.
