Can they figure it out? I'm biased because that reflects my personal experience. While RPI was a top ranked engineering college they didn't even have a computer science degree. We learned FORTRAN as a tool that might be useful in our career. Over the years I sometimes felt like I was trying to drink from a fire hose but I figured it out.
