Yeap, "It is possible and has an extra price."

When my system 'died' I contacted the Suppliers/Installers to find out 
what went wrong and they said nothing was wrong, that's how the system 
was supposed to work.

HOWEVER, for a mere $1400 (I think) they could sell you a box that you 
could connect to the battery that would allow you to draw up to 1kW from 
the Battery (without any Mains reference) whilst it held charge .... you 
know, for use in Life and Death situations.
