Why ... ?  Why _must_ Forth be involved in anything?  Doesn't it
seem to you Forth is _not_ involved in much of anything?

I think that's very unlikely for a few reasons.  First, most
people don't program, and so they won't use Forth directly.
Second, most people don't care how much storage space an
application consumes, until they no longer have any.  Third, most
people do care about fast execution speed.  If an application was
coded in a slow implementation of Forth by the app developer, no
one will use that application because it's too slow.  If an
application is coded in a fast implementation of Forth, instead of
using C or C++, no one will notice or care that it was coded in
Forth.  If no one notices or cares, what advantage does Forth have
over non-Forth?  None.  Personally, I think this perspective
represents the 'truth' of the issue even though it's likely
out-of-line with what others here believe.
