So, your CHAR is IMMEDIATE ?  Oh, mine isn't.

AIR, I couldn't locate a decent definition for ASCII in the c.l.f. archives.

So, I implemented ASCII as this:

  : ASCII CHAR STATE @ IF [COMPILE] LITERAL THEN ; IMMEDIATE

I used LITERAL too:

  : LITERAL STATE @ IF COMPILE LIT , THEN ; IMMEDIATE

Now, looking at LITERAL's definition again, it's possible to reimplement
ASCII as:

  : ASCII CHAR [COMPILE] LITERAL ; IMMEDIATE

Apparently, that's a common definition for ANS' [CHAR] ...

  : [CHAR] CHAR [COMPILE] LITERAL ; IMMEDIATE

So, that means ASCII is either:

  : ASCII [COMPILE] [CHAR] ;

Or,

  : ASCII POSTPONE [CHAR] ;

Now, I get to update my ASCII definition.
