I mean, ISR (FLIH) coder has to understand few things about underlying memory model in order to be able to talk to deferred procedure (SLIH) and, sometimes, in less typical design, to ordinary kernel thread. But that requires local knowledge, not global. And it is not different from two ordinary application or kernel threads communicating through shared data. In fact, in case you decided to specify [the same] hard affinity (rarely done, due to fear of losing scalability) for both your ISR and your deferred procedure then the communication between the two becomes simpler than between ordinary SMP threads.
