They are going strong on live chat for their customer service and
discouraging phone support.

Web chat probably resolves issues quicker because there is less
pleasantries and other nonsense that occurs on the phone.

I suspect it is probably cheaper too due to no phone calls taking place
although I'm not sure exactly how that would work.

well less phone calls mean less staff they need to employ so less cost
to them. but if they are going to have a call centre, then I would
expect the number to appear on the website somewhere, even if it's
deeply buried under lots of previous links in 'contacts' or 'help', as
is so often done

Nope, it costs more to do it by chat instead of phone
call, because communication is much slower by chat.

> but if they are going to have a call centre,

They always have and they have to have
a room full of people doing chat anyway.

It does with the special number over the mobile service.

They do in fact have a system that you can use to
setup a phone call, but it usually shows busy for
the phone calls and allows you to initiate a chat.

> Then why are they all doing chat?

Because they are fuckwits. If it was cheaper, everyone
would be doing it that way, and they don’t.

They are fuckwits in lots of other ways too.

I left amaysim for jeenee because amaysim wasn’t showing
any sign of having a competitive $10 per month unlimited plan.

I asked them if there was one coming and they said that there wasn’t.

A month after I had moved, they announced theirs.

And then the fuckers sent me an email asking me to come back,
but only listing their vaya offers, the lowest of which was $16,
even tho they had just listed their new $10 offer with amaysim.

I've been harassing them about why I don’t get 4G on my old backup
phone, the iphone 5. No one could tell me why initially, including Apple,
with 3 'senior advisors' with Apple all failing to work out why, with one
deciding the phone must be faulty.

I eventually found out why, the iphone5 doesn’t have band 28
and optus and telstra do 4G on band 28 in most of the country.
Turns out the Optus coverage thing allows you to specify your
phone model and its then dead obvious why I'm not getting
4G on the iphone5 but do on the iphone6S.

The fuckwits at amaysim wont even let you talk to 2nd level
support until you go and get another sim from woolys, move
the number to that and still get the same problem, even tho
I keep rubbing their fucking noses in the fact that the new
sim does 4G fine on the 6S.

I keep demanding to talk to 2nd level support about it,
just to see how bad they actually are. They have been
supposed to call me for 3 fucking weeks now, and never do.

Turns out that they have been calling the new sim, even tho
I have told them to contact me on the number I get all calls on.

They have just been told today that they have been calling
the wrong number, AGAIN, and promised to call me on the
correct number within 20 mins but havent, again. Bet the
fuckers have called the wrong fucking number, again.

The only reason I keep using them is because their PAYG
still has some advantages with a sim that only receives
calls and texts. They have just doubled their call and text
and data charges on it, so the aldi sim is better value if
you make a few calls or texts or data, but does require
annual renewal.

I am going to Amaysim for the $10 per month plan.

I am currently on Vaya post paid. If I port mid way through the billing

I didn’t try that, I waited till the last day literally to activate the new

I rushed out and bought an Amaysim sim. I didn't want the sim sitting
around for a month so I ported straight away. Worst case is that I'm
down $10. Not too bad.

Not really, just prefer chat when they are busy.

Madly IMO because chat is lousy use of phone droid time.

Nope, not with voip calls.
