You better have: 1 backup that you know has everything you would want restored. 2 Above is a verification that backup media is pretty good. 3 hard copy backup/restore procedure 4 that has been tested 5 tested that you know how to edit files on your install using the tools provided by your rescue cd/usb media. Guessing you will be shrinking mint partition from the front. It has been years since I have done that. It may take awhile. My solution, installed VirtualBox, created a win7 guest, mounted my win 7 Home Premium iso. Every couple of months I click win7, about 10 seconds later I click my get updates icon. In your case, I'll guess it will be more than 24 hours before you get all updates installed. That assumes win10 does not sneak in as part of updates. Come tax season, I clone a copy of win7, boot it, install H&R Block tax software, do taxes, copy irs documents and tax director(s) to usb, save usb contents to 201x_tax, print tax documents, burn 201x_tax to cd, and delete win7 clone. My cd, H&R cd and tax documents go in a gallon zip log bag and stuck in a shoe box.
