That's for sure. - whatever the char to represent the semantic of a field/line separator, only dedicated apps can deal with that semantic. - in any cases a byte stream is nothing more than a byte stream, without any other semantic ; only the apps you use or you write make this semantic come to life. for instance, how you use vi or awk with the same byte stream will influence the presentation of that stream. note : I like the way you present your tests...
