It's not clear how many of the personnel working in the depot were killed but as might be expected the facility, chock full of high explosives meant for Russian, blew up. It's not the first time civilians have been killed when an attack on a legitimate military target in a residential neighborhood wound up with dead civilians. You should be familiar with the process. The air attacks on Coventry's heavy industry did damage to the countryside, in part because of the success of the plan to decoy the bombers from the factories. That gave Lindemann and Bomber Harris the latitude to specifically bomb residential areas, dehousing, since it was easier to get rid of the civilian workforce than target heavily defended legitimate sites.
