The tree in my yard gets a haircut every few years. For some reason it's 
asymmetrical like it wants to reach out and get it one with the power 
pole. 

On forested state or federal lands where there's nobody around to complain 
they take a more direct approach and prune the tree back to 6" off the 
ground. It gives them a chance for some artwork too.
