Rigamarole?  It's about one click more than it used to be, and cleaner
since you don't have to reposition and/or resize a second window.

But if you want to add an ALBUM to a playlist, go to Music/Albums,
right click on the album of interest and select Add to Playlist and
then the Playlist you want to add it to.

Or as Lewis suggested, start dragging the album.  That will make the
list of playlists show up on in a column on the right.  Drop the album
into your preferred playlist.
