I must admit, I don't get the "stay on old versions" mentalit ...

yes I've had to find newer/different add-ons when old ones stopped working

yes i've had to learn how to turn off new features I dislike

yes I've had to perform a couple of css tweaks to make it look how like 
it (generally harking back to how  it looked before)

The point for me, is that all the above are possible with TB.
