To each his own. I guess.
Seems to me like a huge waste of time.
And I still don't see how compiling source is going to change
the equation.  If package A requires package B, compiling source
isn't going to change anything.

I suppose you could configure some things out you don't want.

So, then you're stuck with manually copying some .h files at
minimum.

Hardly seems like something some other distro will solve.
