I fail to see the problem.
Update as infrequently as you want.
Unlike MSFT, reboots are never required
unless you feel an overriding need to run the updated kernel.

I usually update every month or so.

Unlike my corporate Windows desktop which comes close to requiring an
update with every power on, so I turn the system on, boot up, then I'm
forced to update and boot again.  Nice.

Circular dependencies are solved by installing both packages at once.

Didn't you know that?

You shouldn't even notice it if you are just doing an update.
