I could write a script or possibly even do an xargs one-liner to use
ldd to query what my media player of choice is using and tarball that
whole thing up for you as a "MacOS style package".
It's not the distribution.
It's the end user.
Any distribution is just a collection of upstream packages and perhaps
a method of spoon feeding those packages to the end user.
Download the source and stop being a helpless idiot.

It's the missing bit that may of the fancier distributions require
you to manually download from some 3rd party source. Of course this is
all pretty trivial to determine even with the most incompetent attempts
at using Google.
