Nope.

Which will be used if necessary (copying objects is non-trivial) , 
optimised away if not.  Either way, the programmer doesn't have worry. 
This is especially important if a the object is modified and a copy is 
changed from trivial to non-trivial.

And if copying obj is non-trivial?

So when you copy a structure with embedded pointers, who is responsible 
for freeing the memory they point to?

Not forgetting memory isn't the only resource that has to be cleaned up.
