Despite using it a lot you won't give examples showing that supposed
benefit.

But it would be best to fix the loop to do the input correctly. That
your suggestion is not as bad as some other code does not make it the
right suggestion to make to someone learning C.

That's neither surprising nor relevant.
Lots of people don't like scanf, but even if you write your own input
functions you should still write the loop the C way and not the Pascal
way (though you have to write C-style input function that report success
or failure).

Your example has only one input operation and you put it in the right
place. Some people might opt to put some of the processing of the data
(the line in this case) in the condition as well, but that's beside the
point.
I'm not sure what I am now supposed to see since you've written the loop
exactly right. (Well, I presume so -- I can't be sure what the end
result you want is -- but looks exactly right.)
