You are clearly suggesting an eof check (including an error check
because that's what your eof function does) as a good way of reading
files.  This whole subthread came about because I don't think you should
tell that to people learning C.

The book did more than suggest it -- it showed it!  All corrections are
welcome but it's better to tell people the right way not just a way
that's a little bit better.

Sorry, I forgot to change the name in the post.  There's a function
called parse_line that's not being called and a call to find_numbers
that is not defines (but takes the same parameters)...

By why do you need to run it?  The discussion is about the structure of
input loops and there is only one of those:

  while (fgets(line, sizeof line, fp)) ...

what would you change about it?  And if nothing, what was the point of
this example?  (I don't mind, I enjoy a bit of coding now and then but
it seemed pointless as soon as I saw that the format was line-oriented
with a fixed maximum line length.)
