Sie haben halt den Microsoft-Virus nicht rechtzeitig erkannt. Offiziell war
das ja ein _Wechsel_ an der Spitze. Aber irgendwie schien da eine Leitung
falsch geschaltet geblieben zu sein...

Hmmm - ob WinCE _wirklich_ als "Realtime"-System gedacht war, möchte ich
bezweifeln. Geschafft haben sie das jedenfalls nicht. Ich habe bei einem
Kunden mit solchen Kisterln zu tun, auf ARM-Basis. Furchtbare "Performance",
kaum benutzbar (die laufen glücklicheweise völlig unbedient), und obwohl
der Hersteller durch und durch auf Windows schwört, hat er den Kisterln
einen eigenen "Treiber"-Unterbau für die (SPS-) "Echtzeit"-Funktionen
verpasst. ("Garantiert absturzsicher", wurde behauptet. Beim ersten
aufgetretenen Windows-Ausstieg wegen einer Notabschaltung stürzte alles ab,
auch der "absturzsichere" Treiber...)

Angesichts des Umfangs von W7 sehe ich den Einsatzbereich im "embedded"-
Umfeld als nicht übermäßig umfangreich an.

Wenn's nichts anderes mehr gibt, bleibt Dir nur übrig, mitzumachen oder
nichts zu machen. Und gegen letzteres hat die "Industrie" noch die Handhabe
der Dienstleistungsvergütungen - wenn Du kein Gerät hast, kannst Du nicht
bezahlen, und wenn Du nicht bezahlen kannst, dann kannst Du Dir selber
ausmalen, was Du dann bist.
Hier gab's kürzlich einen (viel zu leisen) Aufschrei, als der Vorschlag
aufkam, das Bargeld abzuschaffen. In Usanien dürfte das kaum noch jemand
bemerken. Dann bieten die Kreditkartenfirmen die "Direktzahlung" per Phon
an, und wenn das genügend verbreitet ist, werden die Kartenterminals - die
ja so hohe Kosten verursachen - gegen NFC-Terminals ausgetauscht. Das hat
auch den Vorteil, daß der Kunde erstmal überhaupt keine Kontrolle mehr hat,
wieviel er eigentlich bezahlt hat - was aber auch völlig irrelavant ist,
weil er dank der fernbeschreibbaren elektronischen Preisschilder sowieso
nie weiß, ob der Preis, den er beim Einladen der Ware gesehen hat, noch
gültig ist. Und an manchen Stellen merkt er vielleicht nicht mal, _daß_ er
überhaupt bezahlt, z.B. beim Eintritt in Museen, Ausstellungen, Bahnhöfen
oder ähnliches...
Sind doch großartige Zeiten, die den Firmen da bevorstehen, oder?
