these days, most people have more than one computer. if not, they know
someone else who can download it for them.

there's a base level functionality at which point you can get
additional drivers if needed.

it's also not an issue for cloning an hd/ssd since the rest of the
hardware doesn't change.

probably not. they just never bothered to even try.

classic mac os could be copied simply by dragging the system folder to
a new hard drive. mac os x needs a clone utility.

because they don't care. 'good enough' is all that matters.

it's not a trick.

internet recovery is an intentional design decision for the situation
where the user has a non-bootable computer and no way to get the os.

it appeared about the same time when mac os was no longer available on
a dvd.

there is no web browser, however, a hd/ssd is required. otherwise there
would be nowhere to install mac os.
