I buy my SSDs from Crucial: https://uk.crucial.com/catalog/ssd

Historically Macs used to need custom firmware in their hard disks - I 
don't know whether that is still true ...

Others will tell you how to get the Mac apart.

Being a Mac, you should be able to install the OS onto the SSD via 
download or a restore from Time Machine, rather than the horrible "clone 
disk" process that is forced on Windows users.
