My point being that getting a Windows OS on a virgin disk us usually a pain and requires the appropriate (set of) disks from the manufacturer, which will be complete with all the necessary drivers. If the virgin disk is simple an upgrade (as with HDD to SSD) then the clone process usually works and is much simpler. By contrast I'm told that one can download an Apple OS onto a virgin disk in one easy step (which might of course take several hours); so this obviates the need to clone. i've no personal experience of this. -- Graham J
