(You may need to first turn off the Finder > > Preferences > General option for opening folders in tabs). I thought I might have found out a resolution for a folder opening a new window rather than a tab. I got into a long conversation with ChatGPT about it, and it suggested option-command-t to get rid of the window toolbar and sidebar which worked. However, that caused Fetch to crash when I tried to upload a file; Fetch apparently isn't compatible with that. So after several tests ChatGPT suggested and the same thing happening, I uninstalled Fetch with AppCleaner and reinstalled it (my suggestion, which it said was reasonable) and that got everything back to normal. I told it I'd just do the option-double click contextual menu method for opening a new folder from a tab, there's apparently no easy solution in newer OS's unless you want to go digging around in the Terminal and that could cause other problems. It's amazing though how ChatGPT knew exactly what to do and articulately it responded. You need 100 AI centers in every state for that advantage though, lol. >> And no window can be any smaller than the largest window you have on >> the computer, or you have to scroll to see icons on the largest window. >> What a waste of screen real estate. >> >> Crazy stuff IMO, just because something works better on an iPhone >> doesn't mean it translates on a desktop. >> >> (If anybody knows of any extensions to give you more control over the >> Finder in Ventura and other more modern OS versions I would appreciate >> knowing.) > > Depends what you mean by "more control" > > TinkerTool / TinkerTool System and OnyX both let you change some of the > 'hidden' Finder preferences without going through the Terminal. > > Tinker Tool: https://www.bresink.com/products.html > OnyX: https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html I asked ChatGPT about that and it said there's no way to do it with TInkerTool. I'm kind of hesitant to use apps like TinkerTool and OnyX, they've messed with the permissions in other (older) OS's and I was lucky to bring the system back from near death a couple of times. > There are numerous other little apps and preference panes that give > extra features to MacOS. > > > >>> It's getting even worse with all the useless "AI" nonsense being >>> shovelled in now too. :-( >> >> Yeah I notice they're plugging the AI stuff pretty heavily if you go to >> www.apple.com/imac/
