They are still there, but the water is gone. It all boiled away due to 
the Martians producing too much CO2 and creating global warming. 
Greenhouse gases on Mars were growing just as on Earth but Martians 
refused to change their ways (because they had no Algore or Sam Wormley 
to lead them) and now the atmosphere is 95.32% CO2 and the intense 
warming and storms boiled all the water away. So sad.

Larry Niven's proposal, in his novel Rainbow Mars, of an interstellar 
travelling beanstalk[*] sucking up all the water, is more plausible.

Another common misconception.  There is no monument.  The only face that has 
been found on Mars so far is a *rock* face (in the geological meaning of the 
word) on which shadows fall in a certain fashion during a certain season.

Again, the reason for some humans to believe that it were a sculpted face 
was comparably poor image resolution when that rock was first observed 
combined with an evolutionary beneficial inclination of humanoids to see 
patterns even where there are none.  We are particularly trained to see 
faces because it is important for one’s survival to be able to recognize 
individuals by their face (for example, to recognize one’s mother whose is 
probably the first face that one sees).

If the Mars has about 95 % CO2 in the atmosphere, we had to find out, 
where the CO2 came from.

Since the Martians have most likely not burned dead dinosaurs, to drive 
cars or head their mansions, we need to find out, from were the 
carbondioxid came.


I don't think, that even such a global climate protector like Al Gore 
would have prevented the Mars atmosphere to fill entirely with CO2 
(since he would have needed something else to breath).

The lack of O2 also questions the source of CO2 from burning, since 
oxygen is a necessity for fire.

But - maybe - the lack of plants is, what makes the atmosphere of Mars 
so filled with CO2. And lack of plants means lack of wood, which cannot 
burn, without someone to ignite it.

So CO2 is not reason for Marsian warming, but lack of plants is reason 
for lack of cooling.

Earth would - most likely - have started with an atmosphere of CO2 
(mainly). But the water we have on Earth has developed life and that O2, 
by photosynthesis from CO2.

Now the plants have absorbed most of the CO2 and so we need to burn 
wood. Otherwise the plants would starve.

growing tobacco using irragation of the acid water, and all started

think about 15.
