I'm using Dejavu Sans Mono Book in a mate-terminal.  I have no trouble
whatsoever displaying or inserting Asian glyphs into any file in vim.
I can either echo the character in or copy/paste it.

In Dejavu Sans Mono Book, 1 doesn't look like l, O doesnt' look
like 0, etc.  Show me any emoji or heiroglyphic or cuneiform
or asian character that you think I am not able to display
on my terminal or use in a file.  Every single one I've tested
from unicode.org has worked.

You've never used it.  How would you know what it can do?  The swastika
is not part of Dejavu sans mono either, but I can sure set it as my
terminal prompt.
