Linux distros have *tons* of things that Windows 10 lacks,
not the least of which is a powerful command shell.  Sure,
you can jump through hoops and install some of that stuff
on Windows, but why put yourself through that hassle?

A little googling shows that people have successfully programmed
all the buttons on that mouse under Linux.

lua is available for linux, but you won't need it to program the
mouse.  There already exist utilities for binding xevents.
