Hi Ng I have found something strange, that you certainly like: Big-Bang-theory was invented by a Jesuit Priest in Belgium with the name George Lemaitre. He studied at the catholic university in Leuven in Belgium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Lema%C3%AEtre He was born on 17 July 1894. With the age of 17 he finished his Jesuit school and went to Leuven, to study civil engineering. This ended with august 1914, since German soldiers burnt down parts of the university in revenge for sniper attacks. The university was closed until 21th of January 1919. In 1920 Lemaitre had not only finished his studies in Physics, to what he had switched in the meantime, but also received a PhD. But were did he study, if the university was closed? TH

This is nothing new. Lemaitre is the ‘L’ in the LFRW metric which sometimes is referred to as the FRW metric. That terminology depends on how much respect you have of the Church’s scientific conatributions. <shrug>

Since before WWI he studied engineering in Louvin (=Leuven) and after the war the university was still closed until January 1919. So his entire studies in mathematics and physics could only have happened in the 10 1/2 remaining month of 1919 - if we reserve a few month in 1920, that he certainly needed to write his PhD thesis. He volunteered and served as an artillery officer in the Belgian army. He was decorated for bravery, receiving the Military Cross, but the dreadful carnage he had seen on the battlefields troubled him deeply and changed his life. After the war ended he returned to his university studies but his interests now moved away from engineering and towards mathematics. He graduated with the degree of Docteur en Sciences in mathematics in 1920 after submitting his thesis l'Approximation des fonctions de plusieurs variables réelles Ⓣ written under guidance from de la Vallée Poussin." > The question is: TIME !!! > > Since before WWI he studied engineering in Louvin (=Leuven) and after > the war the university was still closed until January 1919. > > So his entire studies in mathematics and physics could only have > happened in the 10 1/2 remaining month of 1919 - if we reserve a few > month in 1920, that he certainly needed to write his PhD thesis. > Since the university of Leuven reopened after WWI in January 1919, he could not have started with physics and mathematics earlier than that date. One reason: he was a soldier in WWI and second reason: the university was burnt down and subsequently closed So he had only studied less than a year from start to finish and mastered both: mathematics and physics. To make his career even more astonishing: he left with a doctorate of science (~> PhD) in 1920. These stations of his life require lightning fast learning. But actually I have never heard about anything similar anywhere else. TH

Yes, Lemaitre was not an orthodox Einstein dingleberry. You do not need to graduate from the most prestigious university to understand GR, and you certainly do not need to go to college to understand GR. You can certainly understand GR even if you are a Catholic priest. <shrug>

Some people claim, that Hubble was actually an Englishmen, since he spoke and behaved like one. Since it would require authority of significant level to grant a doctorate to Lemaitre without some kind of study at Leuven, this same authority could have put Hubble at his telescope. This would be something I would call 'coordinated scientific fake' and that would require a reason. So eventually 'cosmic expansion' and 'big bang theory' is actually a disinformation project, designed to divert scientific attention from something else. TH

BTW, the question is if his doctorate and PhD are the same thing, as scientific degrees are variable across countries and time. E.g. I have the doctorate, but not PhD. He studied polytechnic for cca 3 years before the war, as he was born in 1894 and started when he was 17. That low age says something. The doctorate thesis from 1920 was "Approximation of functions of several real variables", so nothing directly connected to astrophysics. -- Libor Striz aka Poutnik ( a pilgrim/wanderer/wayfarer) "Humour is the only effective weapon against stupidity." But this would be sufficient to put everything else he had ever done or said under suspicion. IOW: if he faked his PhD, this would spoil everything else. Even worse would be, if some sort of authority helped him to fake his PhD. > BTW, the question is if his doctorate and PhD are the same thing, > as scientific degrees are variable across countries and time. > E.g. He started his career quite early and finished with a PhD at the age of 22. Since I have attended the very same university (TU-Berlin now, formerly university of Charlottenburg), I can say, that is definitely impossible. So his cv is a fraud, even if the papers are correct. Reason. Germany was occupied by the Americans and they could fake any paper the wanted. Similar with Belgium after WWI, which was essentially an occupied country, too. > The doctorate thesis from 1920 was "Approximation of functions of > several real variables", > so nothing directly connected to astrophysics. > Well, but he studied physics and mathematics in Leuven - allegedly. His doctorate is in mathematics, but had had also a degree in physics. But were and when did he actually learn all of that??? TH

Even if what you say we're true, you basically say the universe expansion observed by many is true or false, depending in if his thesis in 1920 were proper or not. Like if existence of satellites of Jupiter were dependent on if Galileo could or could see them by his device. > > >> > We have the same pattern somewhere else: in the life of Wernher von Braun. > > He started his career quite early and finished with a PhD at the age of 22. > > Since I have attended the very same university (TU-Berlin now, formerly > university of Charlottenburg), I can say, that is definitely impossible. Unless if it is possible. Universities often use a special evaluation of students whose studies were interrupted by a war, and them may not pass all regular years, if the pass required exams. I think you should spend your effort somewhere else. > > So his cv is a fraud, even if the papers are correct. Reason. You say so. @Thomas Heger > But actually I have never heard about anything similar anywhere else. Check out Stefan Banach's biography. Roughly Lemaitre's contemporary. That guy went straight from having spent zero years in formal mathematical education (he only had an unfinished engineering degree) to assistantship at a university. He was granted PhD the same year, habilitation within two years, and full professorship within four. And all that took this 'long' only because he famously couldn't be bothered with the requisite formalities.

Unless you have verified he did not and could not obtain his doctorate properly, I smell, hear and taste a fixed idea and a side purpose. Verification based on assumption does not count. Contemporary teachers and supervisors checked him more thoroughly than you can. For doctorate, all what is really needed is thesis of the doctorate quality, being for graduate doctorate or PhD doctorate, aside of eventual exam. Do you really think he would be so stupid, if he had cheated, to claim he did it at the renown mathematician and think nobody would ever contact him for the feedback ? -- Libor Striz aka Poutnik ( a pilgrim/wanderer/wayfarer) "Humour is the only effective weapon against stupidity." Even Lemaitre had eventually good intentions. But there was seemingly some sort of power acting hidden behind the scene, which gave orders to Lemaitre and granted his doctorate and later career. This power uses, seemingly, intentional scientific fraud as means for some kind of (unknown) purpose. TH

But this is a forum about relativity, not about conspiracies. I actually don't think, that 'conspiracy' would be necessary. It just took some kind of order from high in the hierarchy and Lemaitre got his doctorate. But he was also a priest and wearing unjustified scientific titles is certainly not, what priests should do. The reason to regard such a title as highly questionable is the following: if academic titles are granted for other reasons than studying and scientific research, than the titles earned for hard work by real scientists is devaluated by false titles. So it is immoral to use a title usually awarded for academic work without such work. That is like theft of something immaterial and that is something, what priests are not expected to do. TH
