I'm awaiting your responses on a number of other examples where a measured property of something changes, though there is no "physical effect" to "cause" it. I'll remind you of a few: - The shift in frequency of a siren from a passing ambulance, as observed by a SINGLE OBSERVER. So far you have said that this is not a real shift in frequency in measured frequency at all, but you also have not stated any "physical effect" that "causes" it, nor have you cited any error in the measuring apparatus that accounts for what is recorded. - The change in the shape of a trajectory of a stone dropped from the top of a mast. Is the change from straight to parabolic "caused" by any "physical effect" on a "property of matter" or not? - The change in kinetic energy of a rock sitting on the dashboard of a car, just by changing the reference frame of the observer. What "causes" this sudden change in kinetic energy, or are you claiming that kinetic energy is not a real property of matter? Come on, Ed. If you are going to make the mistake about kinetic energy, then you're going to make it about time dilation. That's why I'm talking about it. The point is you are trying to make a claim about the only real effects being intrinsic ones, when ORDINARY and BASIC physics shows this is a silly notion.
