Aber ist sie > wirklich langsamer als früher? Ich weiß es nicht. Es gibt definitiv Beispiele dafür und dagegen. Ein beeindruckender Test ist, "damalige" Software auf "heutigen" CPUs laufen zu lassen. Mein persönlicher Favorit ist FreeHand 3.1 auf meinem PowerMac 7500 (mit grad mal 36 MiB/s RAM-Durchsatz), aber einer "G3"-Karte mit 400 MHz und 1MB L2 Cache mit halbem Takt. Egal wie komplex das Schaltbild ist was ich damit zeichne, es gibt keine nennenswerte Wartezeit beim Scrollen und Zoomen. Oder, im Rahmen meiner Migration weg von ESXi auf Qemu auf etwas neuerer Hardware (HP µServer Gen 10) brauche ich ein w2k für MS HIS. Die Geschwindigkeit mit der man Dinge tun kann ist echt verblüffend. Windows 10 fühlt sich auf der gleichen Hardware sehr schnarchig an. Unterm Strich: Der resultierende Code plus zusätzlich eingebundenen Daten wie Symbole, Text oder Videos (!), der Kram muss kopiert und durchgekaut werden. Dass das mit weniger Megabytes schneller geht, dürfte auf der Hand liegen und lässt sich mit dem vorgeschlagenen Test gut nachvollziehen. Und genau dieser Bloat, diese unnötige Komplexität durch mehrere Abstraktionsschichten und Libraries, die das Programmieren mehr oder minder wirksam effizienter machen sollen, letztendlich aber bei jedem einzelnen Anwender mehr CPU-Zyklen, RAM und Plattenplatz beanspruchen als eigentlich notwendig, das ist es was (nicht nur) mich stört. -- :wq!
