Nah, you purchase Yosemite from the App Store (from the Apple menu), and you install it that way: <https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201475> > Are these easy to open up and blow the dust out? I should have made that clear. Sorry. No iMac is "easy" to open for the average user. I've worked on enough computers that it's not something I'd shy away from, though. You'll need to have some skill and patience to do it. It looks like you have the Core 2 Duo iMac 2.26 GHz (Mid-2009) model: <http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.26-20-inch-aluminum-mid-2009-education-specs.html> Here's the iFixit tear down, showing what is involved: <https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iMac+Intel+20-Inch+EMC+2266+Teardown/658> If it looks like too much for you, you probably shouldn't mess with it. There will likely be some dust buildup inside of the machine, but it won't cause catastrophic problems if you leave it be. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
