You can do a lot with the free quota. For just learning it should
be more than enough.

And even if you start paying then it is not expensive.

For free you can use JPA.

And in my opinion JPA would be rather obvious for learning.

If you pay, then you can get a relational database (MySQL).
And again it is not that expensive.
