  AFAIK, you should *not* use the 'Bluetooth Personal Area Network'
functionality. That's yet another function. Sofar we have three: 1)
Direct *adhoc* Bluetooth connection, 2) Quick Share and 3) Bluetooth
Personal Area Network.

  You're not 'Thick as a Brick' at all. As I said, I couldn't get the
(Bluetooth) Android to Windows connection to work either.

  I think you should try the Quick Share method I mentioned. And, as
said, on the Windows side, use the Windows program (.exe) (from Google),
because that's the one I use [3].
