The word does not mean 'person who speaks German' but

Podolski stems from Poland and was born in Gliwice.

The Silesians were not Germans, but Silesia was a part of the KuK 
Monarchy, which was annexed by Prussia.

So the people in Silesia were a mixture of Bohemians, Polish, Austrians 
and Sudets. All of these people had been part of AUSTRIA!

The Prussians had conquered Silesia, which did not make Silesians ethnic 
Germans.

Similar the Sudets were legal citizens of the Czech Republic and had 
Austrian roots, since Bohemia was also a part of Austria.

Gliwice, btw, had the German name 'Gleiwitz'

It's certainly interesting to hear about 'Grossdeutschland' from an 
Englishman.

Yes, maybe. But that was a comment about your statement, not about 'My 
Struggle'. You wrote the phrase "...But until very recently indeed, .."

Yes, it is acceptable. But you can accept almost everything, if you are 
able to identify, what the speaker wants.

But 'acceptable' is not exactly the same as 'well written'.

The book 'Mein Kampf' is more of the type 'acceptable'. To read it is 
actually a pain in the a***.

After two pages you get hopelessly sedated and have to leave the book 
for an hour or two, get some fresh air and a cup of coffee.

But this is the quality of the German version alone.

The English version is MUCH better written and much easier to read.
