I don't see any reason to create another OS. When/If that OS gains
traction and support, companies will be interested in it, so you are at
the same predicament as now.

And for decades that OS would have little support. Meaning, good luck
getting hardware compatible with it. Why would we be interested in that,
now that we can buy hardware at shops and almost all will work with
Linux? Now that we have that problem basically solved, you want to start
again from scratch?

Not going to happen. Fortunately.

I don't see any expensive, licensed, spyware in Linux.
