Some software dates from before the notion of UB was a formalized thing; it can work for decades until some one working on a point revision of a compiler realizes that they can take advantage of a specific kind of UB that this ancient program exhibits. Or, something _can_ become UB that was not initially; a program who took care to avoid UB in the ANSI C sense might find their program suddenly stops working because a thing they did became UB in a later revision of the standard (e.g., `realloc(0, ...)` becoming UB in C23). That's _my_ problem with UB and C. It's too easy to shrug one's shoulders and say, "oh well...UB" and throw all of the blame onto the programmer, when C's rules for what is, and is not, UB are often byzantine and abstruse and the cause may not be at all evident to the programmer! > <even more ridiculous examples elided> 100%. - Dan C.
