In the MBP 15" there is oodles of room where parts can move inwards to 
make room for an SD slot.  I haven't found a good photo of the innards 
of the 13" to see what could be done but I doubt it's an issue at all.

Above.  And yes, Apple's goals are minimalism.  Doesn't mean I like the 
cost to me of their goals.

You know I mean the rectangular old style.  Not the TB 3 style.

Meh yourself.  Dongles are things you forget at home or in the hotel 
room.  PITA's to be avoided.

He does, actually.  He's an unusually mobile person who is always making 
video wherever he goes which is everywhere.  I hate to admit it but 
watching his videos can be habit forming.  He is irritating, often 
wrong, opinionated, etc.  But his video presentation skills are great.

Yes, that's not everyone.  But anyone who uses their laptop as a work 
tool that needs to import data, doesn't want to have to use dongles.  If 
you had a choice you would prefer not to.

It's like needing a crank to start a car.

The issue is not bringing them.  The issue is manipulating them and 
forgetting them.  At home.  In the hotel.  Airport.  On the train.  On 
the plane.  Just having to add one to the cable or switch from to the 
next is a PITA.  Then when you really need one ... oops.  It's back in LA.

Really unacceptable - and I loathe buying my next laptop.  The primary 
at work is now 3 years old; the backup is 2.  Both have the good 'ole 
rectangular USB ports and that's great.  Both are i5 which is ample for 
their tasks.

Probably sufficient for another 2 - 3 years.

May need to buy another as a workstation however.  Or another Mac Mini.
