Yes, but those Unix systems are (usually) servers running software that
has often been tried and tested over years, if not decades, of use.

On the other hand a Mac is often running brand new / completely
re-written software (such as Photos, new versions of iWork apps or
Microsoft Office), flakey applications (such as web browsers), and even
complete crap (such as Flash), not to mention things like games that
can naughtily be banging directly on the hardware.
